Faculty Member Receives Instrumentation Award
Tobias Baskin is the PI on a NSF Major Research Instrumentation award of $511,143 to acquire a state of the art high-resolution scanning electron microscope. Recently, the scanning electron microscope has been transformed into an instrument capable of the high magnifications typical of a transmission electron microscope but without requiring the sample to be sectioned. This instrument will be housed in a central facility and will facilitate research throughout the life and materials sciences. Because the instrument is robust and is equipped with a remote viewing interface, it will also be featured in teaching.
